He was taught koto (koto, sangen, and song) by his parents from an early age, and began playing hogaku (traditional Japanese music) at age 11. Currently, he is studying hogaku-bayashi under Mr. Roei Tosha and nagauta-shamisen under Mr. Chuichiro Matsunaga. He is a licensed koto player under the Ikuta School Koto Kyokyoku Miyagi-sha. He attended the Music High School attached to the Tokyo University of the Arts and is currently a second-year student in the Department of Traditional Japanese Music at the same university.
