Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1990, he attended Kapiolani Community College of Hawaii State University in 2008.
After graduating from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London in 2002, he became the first Japanese artist to study performance at the Royal College of Art, completing his master's degree in 2004. He has exhibited in Japan and abroad, mainly performance works that question gender, disability, and racial stereotypes and explore the meaning of human existence by questioning the uncertain social codes of freedom and equality, using his own body as a neutral three-dimensional object.
