Alice Godfrey / Feldenkrais Workshop
Alice Godfrey, a dancer active internationally and working on a new piece with DaBY resident artist Mariko Kakizaki this year, will give a workshop on the Feldenkrais Method.
Not only dancers, actors and performers, but anyone interested in the Feldenkrais Method is encouraged to attend!
◆What is the Feldenkrais Method?
An innovative approach to improving both physical and mental functioning through observation of how the body moves and attention to oneself, researched and developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist for over 40 years. It focuses on the human capacity to learn, grow, and change throughout life and is open to all who wish to improve the quality of their daily lives as well as their professional activities.

◆Lecturer Profile
Born in Windhoek, Namibia in 1994. She grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, where she received her dance training, and after high school she joined the post-secondary program at the National Ballet School of Canada. Studied under the direction of Artistic Director Mavis Staines, she took her first professional position with Nederland Dance Theatre’s second company, NDT2, in 2014 and moved to the first company, NDT1, in 2017.From 2019 onwards, she will work with choreographer Sharon Eyal’s dance company L-E-V. She also works as a freelance artist on various projects.
This year, they are also working with dancer/choreographer Mariko Kakizaki on a new piece, which will be premiered at the “Performing Arts Selection 2023” on September 16 and 17 at the Aichi Arts Center.
