Chija Song / Practice Sharing Workshop
Chija Song is a Dutch artist born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, who is currently working in Europe using dance as a tool for immigrant communities, etc. Dance Base Yokohama is pleased to announce that Chija Song will be collaborating with Eima Yuasa on nosmosis research 2023. In conjunction with her visit to Japan, Dance Base Yokohama will hold a workshop in which she will share what she has learned through her creative process.
Participants will share their own episodes of discoveries and problems that they are usually too busy to cover, such as what is important to them when promoting a project as a professional artist, their position as a project leader, and how to organize a comfortable team. Participants will share their stories and learn about small discoveries and problems that they are usually too busy to cover.
All those interested in Chija Song’s work and activities, as well as the theme and process of her work, are welcome to attend.

Day 1
10:30 – 13:00
The theme is “Study of relationship with care” and Chija will share what she learned through the creation of her short film “Landing on Feather” presented at Dance New Air 2020->21, and discuss the importance of team building, environment creation, and time for reflection, She will discuss the importance of team building, environment creation, and the importance of time for reflection with participants through her experiences, introduction of her video work, and physical practice.
14:00 – 16:00
Based on the themes and questions developed during the morning discussion, we will share our experiences with each other on a one-on-one basis. The session will begin with an experience of “listening” with the body, followed by a session of listening to each other.
Day 2
10:30 – 13:00
Chija Song will share what she learned through the creation and production of “But, First We Are Going To Eat; Dutch Indies community engaged project” with the immigrant group “Dutch Indies”, The focus will be on how they responded to problems and difficulties, and how to create a space for dialogue on difficult issues.
14:00 – 16:00
As in the first day, based on the themes and questions that developed during the morning discussion, participants will actually share their experiences with each other in pairs. In the second half of the day, participants will face their own issues and summarize their learning from the two days.

◆Lecturer Profile
Chija Song (Japan, Korea, Netherlands) is a performer and choreographer. After studying Applied Linguistics in the U.S., she worked in performance art, graduating from the School of New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam in 2015. She was the first choreographer to be selected for the “Moving Forward” residency project, which supports young artists; in 2017, she was awarded the “3Package Deal,” a program of support for international artists. In Japan, he presented his short video work “Landing on Feathers” at Dance New Air 2020->21 in the fall of 2021. He is currently a member of ARP-Art Research Production in Brussels, supported by Talent Development PLAN Brabant by Dans Brabant.
