Naoyuki Sakai / “Dance Well” Workshop
For the first time in Yokohama, DaBY’s resident artist, Naoyuki Sakai, will be bringing the knowledge he gained in Italy to color the space of DaBY. Please join us and enjoy dancing freely.
What is Dance Well?
Dance Well is a dance activity open to everyone, regardless of age or experience, from children to adults, including those living with Parkinson’s disease. It is organized by the CSC Contemporary Theater Center of Bassano del Grappa, Italy, and has been running since 2013.
A key feature of Dance Well is that it is conducted as an artistic activity, rather than for the purpose of rehabilitation or learning dance skills. The event is held in an environment that stimulates the senses, such as the grounds of an art museum where art works are installed, an art gallery, or outdoors where one can experience the seasons. We attempt from an artistic approach to recognize the unique expressions and diverse values that emerge when participants free their bodies and minds.
Well” has the meaning of “well” as well as “source. Let’s find the “source” of each person’s rich expression together.
Key Features:
=It is an artistic activity and is not intended primarily for therapeutic, rehabilitative, or therapeutic purposes.
= Open to all ages and experiences, from children to adults, led by people living with Parkinson’s disease.
= All participants are referred to as “dancers”.
= Held in an artistic environment to stimulate dancers’ creativity
= Not a question of whether the method of expression is correct or incorrect.
= No charge for participation.
= We aim to be rooted in the community while holding the event on an ongoing basis.
