OpenLab vol.10 Music x Dance Improvisation Session -Kara de Kanaderu, Oto Odoru
OpenLab offers an open program for everyone, as opposed to ProLab, which is geared toward professionals.
This year’s event will feature a one-day live session with musicians and resident artists Kogure Kaho and resident dancers, with guests Uchihashi Kazuhisa (guitar/daxophone), Sugawa Takashi (bass/cello), and Matsumaru Qi (saxophone).
On the same day, Kitanaka Marche will be held at Kitanaka Historical Plaza near DaBY. Please join us along with your outing.

◆Participating Artists
Guitar/Daxophone
Musician, leader of the improvisation trio “Altered States” at Innocent Records since 1989, has been involved in improvised music since around 1983, and has also worked on songs through producing and performing with pop musicians such as UA, Haruomi Hosono, Tabito Nanao, Ichiko Aoba, Salyu, Kururi, and many others. He has also produced and performed songs for pop musicians such as UA, Haruomi Hosono, Tabito Nanao, Ichiko Aoba, Salyu and Kururu. His activities include music production and live performances for theater, dance, and film.
Bass/Cello
He began playing the cello at the age of 11 and started playing the double bass at 18, graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2006. After returning to Japan in 2009, he joined the Fumio Karashima Trio and then Terumasa Hino’s band (2010-16).
saxophone
Saxophonist and composer, born in 1995. He grew up in a village in Papua New Guinea with a population of about 400 at an altitude of 1,500 meters, where he taught himself to play the instrument until he graduated from high school. He returned to Japan the same year and has since performed with a variety of artists, mainly in the Tokyo area.
Residence artist at DaBY. While performing as a dancer in works by Akira Kasai and many other choreographers, she began her solo career in 2012. Since the premiere of his solo work “Mimosa” (2015), he continues to perform it again at festivals in Japan and abroad. She is also active in a wide range of activities, including sessions with musicians and artists, and appearances in films, commercials, and music videos.
