Shintaro Hirahara New work “Enen” Open Breast vol.2

From late September to mid-October 2020, DaBY resident choreographer Shintaro Hirahara has begun his creation. This is the second creation of his new work “Enenen”, following on from June of this year.
Before the premiere on October 12 (Mon.) and 13 (Tue.), “Shintaro Hirahara’s New Work “En-En” Open Breast” vol.2 will be held. The performers and guest Kenta Komori, a DaBY dance evangelist, will participate in this one-hour open brainstorming session, in which they will look deeply into the work with videos of the creative process to date.

Resident choreographer Shintaro Hirahara, who will stay and work at DaBY for the first time, will present his creation after 10 days of stay and brainstorm with guests in an open format. He will also hold an open brainstorming session with guests.
The two guests will be invited to participate in open brainstorming sessions as well as tryouts (performances).
The project will be streamed live on the DaBY channel.

Artist Profile
Shintaro Hirahara (DaBY Choreographer in Residence, OrganWorks President)

Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1981.
After a career in classical ballet and HipHop, he became an expert in contemporary dance, working as a dancer, choreographer, stage composer, and dance teacher.
He also presides over the dance company [OrganWorks] and engages in creative activities.
In Japan, he has choreographed for Gekidan Ikiume, Kentaro Kobayashi, Kensaku Kobayashi, Akira Shirai, Keishi Nagatsuka, Ken Kamikita, and others, and as a dancer, he has collaborated with artists in other fields, including Shintaro Oue, Mirai Moriyama, and others, and with Condors, Chiharu Shiota, and Midori Harima, among others. In addition, he has collaborated with artists in China, Korea, Spain, and Scotland, and has choreographed for them.
He was featured in the magazine “BRUTUS” in a feature article titled “Tsugi no Hito: A Catalogue of People Who Will Change Tomorrow. ~ The magazine “BRUTUS” selected him in the performing arts category in its feature article “Tsugi no Hito: A Catalogue of People Who Will Change Tomorrow.
In 2013, he studied in Spain for 9 months under the overseas training program for up-and-coming artists by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
In 2015, he received the Otaru City Cultural Encouragement Award.
Winner of the Next Generation Choreographer Award and Audience Award at the Toyota Choreography Awards in 2016.
Received the Dance Forum Award, Japan Dance Forum in 2017.
