Audition for registered dancers for 2022 will be held on Saturday, March 26
We are now accepting applications for DaBY registered dancers for the year 2022.
In order to help dancers who have completed basic training or who wish to expand their activities as freelancers in the future to become independent, DaBY provides common training throughout the year, participation in productions, and opportunities to consult with mentors to help them get started as dance artists. DaBY provides start-up support for dance artists.

◯Call for DaBY registered dancers for FY2022 and beyond
DaBY registered dancers will be based at Dance Base Yokohama and will continue to be trained by DaBY artists throughout the year, while participating in the creation and research of new works on an ongoing basis.
At this time, DaBY resident artists and others (Ryu Suzuki, Iri Pokorni/Kenta Komori, Saori Hara, etc.) are scheduled to participate in new works.
Among the registered dancers, dancers who are actively involved in the creation and training of DaBY productions will be designated as “DaBY Residence Dancers” and will receive up to 100,000 yen for daily transportation and support for their activities.
◆Wanted Dancers
About 10 DaBY registered dancers (tentative)
*Dancers who are actively involved in DaBY’s productions and training will be designated as “DaBY Resident Dancers” and will receive up to 100,000 yen (including tax) for transportation and activity support if they meet the necessary requirements.
◆Target
Dance artists who wish to have a base of activity in the professional contemporary dance/performing arts field, work with a variety of choreographers, and perform on stage.
*Basically, only freelance dance artists are eligible. However, any number of years of freelance activity is acceptable.

Those who are seeking opportunities to work as freelance dancers, or those who wish to expand their activities.
Those who want to grow while participating in the works of various choreographers.
・Aspiring independent dance artists through interaction with DaBY resident artists and guest artists.
Those who have long experience in classical ballet/street dance and would like to participate in contemporary dance/performing arts.
Those who aim to create works in DaBY
◆Conditions
Those who share DaBY’s concept of “creating a professional dance environment” and “opening dance to society”.
■Resident dancers only
The credit must be given to Dance Base Yokohama or DaBY in publicity materials.

Participate in at least 80% of the training and events conducted by DaBY
*Support payments will be made at the end of the fiscal year to those who meet the above conditions.

April 2022 – March 31, 2023
*Consideration will be given to continuing the program for a second and subsequent years upon consultation.
◆Benefits
No entry or registration fees
(Some workshops by resident artists may require a fee.)
Free participation in 3~4 training classes per month by artists related to DaBY, contextual studies, etc. (scheduled every Thursday morning and throughout the day)
Participating lecturers will be updated as needed.
Participation in creative projects and performances by DaBY-based artists (Ryu Suzuki, Iri Pokorni/Kenta Komori, Saori Hara, etc.)
Free admission to any project, tryout, or performance (or preview) organized by DaBY
Free use of DaBY’s studio for training, creative work, study groups, etc., when space is available
The works created by DaBY will be added to the DaBY repertoire, staged and re-staged.
