Born in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, he began playing cello at the age of 11 and contrabass at 18, graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2006. After returning to Japan in 2009, he joined the Fumio Karashima Trio and then Terumasa Hino's band (2010-16). Ya Trio, Yagi Michiyo Trio, and many other groups. He has performed at many international jazz festivals including Tokyo Jazz, Detroit (USA), Montreux (Switzerland), Brisbane (Australia), Meers (Germany), and Hong Kong.
