DaBY resident artist Conan Amok will create and present a work with dancers invited from the public using “ Multi Layered Body,” a butoh techniquebased on phenomenological and sculptural perspectives developed from his own roots.

After 11 years as a dancer in the Dairakudakan company led by Akaji Maro, Amok has developed her own choreographic practice, performing in Japan and touring in various countries, including France and Romania in 2023 and Colombia in 2020.

This time, we will attempt to create with dancers (mainly contemporary dancers) for whom butoh is not their own choreographic language.
How will the creation of “Multi Layered Body” with dancers other than Butoh dancers affect Amok’s own staging and choreography techniques and her works?
After three days of workshops and creations, the showings will be held on the fourth day.

A lecture including a demonstration by Amok, the director and choreographer, will be given before the showing, and a post-show talk will be held after the performance.

presents the minute transformation of texture as a phenomenon of movement. An experimental stage work that weaves the everyday and the extraordinary in time and space.

The main focus is on the layers of the everyday and the extraordinary, sharing gestures that are aware of the audience and the change of state of pull that immerses the self. From there, each solo in formation and group dance. Contrast between flow and mold. Waves and particles. The awareness of not using a part as its own part. Be specific in your instructions. Put something in the body and float something on the surface. The view you want to see.
