Workshop, collaborative research and showing by DaBY resident artist Naoyuki Sakai, who plans to create a full-length solo performance piece based on “Ophrys Speculum” premiered in December 2022.

◆concept

Intercourse in plants may involve contact with other organisms.

Some species of orchids produce flowers that mimic the appearance of female bees in order to attract male bees.

It plans to co-evolve by seducing and mediating others with its mimetic body.

There is a physical sensation in the human/my body that, by touching and interacting with others, mimics parts of others and transforms its internal tissues, as if mimicking them.

We would like to create a place where we can recognize the circular relationship among plants, materials, performers, and spectators through the accumulation of their mimicry and contact with each other.

Contents

In preparation for the production of the new work “the World Is Green,” we will invite artists from various fields to participate in a collaborative research project.
Each session will have a different theme, approaching the work from three different perspectives: “Exploring the Body,” “Exploring the Body and Material,” and “Exploring the Body and Sound.
While actually performing with their bodies, the students will engage in a dialogue and research the elements involved in the performance.
Spectators are free to enter and exit the site to observe and participate.

  • We will explore, experiment, present, and disseminate what kind of transformation human beings are capable of.

Through biology, cultural anthropology, philosophy, his own hunting and gathering in the mountains, and his life in the city and back, he creates and presents dance and performance works, and holds workshops. How can human beings live from the diversity of life and work of various living creatures? Working for the respect of each individual’s way of being.

After a childhood of wanting to be an animal when he grew up, he began his path of physical exploration.

Major works include “Mutant Dynamics,” a solo in which the dancers dance the entire piece in a bridge posture, disrupting the distinction between back and stomach and limbs and revealing new functions; “Integration,” a group dance of parasitic insects and insect defense behaviors; and “Haru, mushimushi,” a solo that mixes insects, plants and animals back and forth between their worlds. and other dance works based on biology. She also leads Animal Kon-chan, an animal gymnastics class that uses the movements of various creatures as a motif. His dance works are popular among various age groups from toddlers to adults.

In 2021, he will move his base to Wakayama and run around the fields and mountains on four legs. Eating shellfish from the sea and deer from the mountains

In 2023, the name was changed from Saito Con to Narrative Con.
