OpenLab “Children’s Dance Workshop” (Instructor: Kenta Komori)

In order to make first-class dance and performing arts accessible to children from a young age, DaBY dance evangelist Kenta Komori will conduct a dance workshop for children. While using dance techniques, the workshop will focus on learning to move the body through imagination.
Class Content
“Dance Experience” Experience flexibility, ballet, contemporary dance, etc. (30 minutes)
“Creation / Playing with the Body” Dance creation in a space close to the stage with lights (45 minutes)
“Small Presentation” Showing the results of the creation to the parents (15 minutes)

In 1999, he won the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition. He was the first Japanese male dancer to join the Netherlands Dance Theater I. Since leaving the company, he has been a guest performer with the Royal Swedish Ballet, Noism, Sylvie Guillem’s “6000 Miles Away,” and Kirlian Productions, while developing activities around his creative work, including his solo performance “Study for Self/portrait” (Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, 2017). In recent years, she has been leading Opto with Rei Watanabe and Nagama Yuasa, coaching Japanese figure skaters, curating Dance Lab “Dancers, Dance with Words”, and working as an instructor/navigator for Saitama Dance Laboratory (Saitama Arts Theatre, Sainokuni).
