Italy-based dance collective Parini Secondo will hold a residency at Dance Base Yokohama in March 2026 to explore methods developed for their new project, SLOOOOOOOW – time and festivity A workshop will be held. We will create a work with the workshop participants and have a showing on the last day of the residency.

◆Outline

Parini Secondo, together with collaborators, artists/performers Rino Daidoji (Japan) and Carlotta Hofrichter (Germany), will collect from online archives the choreography of parapara, which was danced mainly in Japanese clubs in the 1990s, reconstruct it The choreographies will be reconstructed, and their gestural movements will be converted into text to create an audio guide for the choreographies. Participants will follow the audio and practice the choreography to an ultra-slow Eurobeat soundtrack, experiencing a dramatic slowing down of time, as if the dawn were eternal.

SLOOOOOOOW – time and festivity” vividly expresses the paradoxical temporality of slowed-down YouTube videos, turning caffeinated dance into a meditative excuse to question the relationship between hyper-productive time and performative time. Guided by an “inner” voice transmitted through earphones, participants instantly embody the choreography, like sleepwalkers guided by dreams.

A performance collective formed in 2017 at the idea of Sissi Bassani and Martina Piazzi.
Working with Camilla Neri and Francesca Pizzagalli, they create choreographic works inspired by online material and pop culture. Through collaboration with musician Alberto Ricca/bienoise, the group presents works that emphasize the relationship between music, rhythm, and the body, and has been active nationally and internationally, including selection for the NID New Italian Dance Platform and collaborative productions with the Santarcangelo Festival and Bolzano Danza. He has been active both nationally and internationally.
