While this course is primarily intended for WINGS training participants, the general public is also welcome to attend the auditing sessions.
Seminar Structure (Entire Seminar will last 90 minutes)
Open Session (approx. 60 minutes): Lecture part open to the public
Differences in the way lighting is perceived in Japan and Europe
Process of relationship building and collaboration between choreographers and lighting designers
Closed session (approx. 30 minutes): Q&A for WINGS training target audience (*Non-target audience will be asked to leave)

Instructor Profile
Yuka Hisamatsu
Stage lighting designer. He has worked internationally, mainly in contemporary dance and classical ballet, and is based in Europe. Chief lighting designer for Nederland Dance Theater (NDT), he began his career as a stage lighting designer in 2005 and moved to Europe in 2021 as a trainee under the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Overseas Study Program for Emerging Artists. He is the recipient of the 2016 New Designer Award from the Japan Illuminators Association and the 2022 Incentive Award from the same association. Recent works include “Codes of Conduct” (choreography by Jermaine Spivy) and “fifteen minutes” (choreography by Maxine Doyle).
