Audition for registered dancers for 2022 will be held on Saturday, March 26
We are now accepting applications for DaBY registered dancers for the year 2022.
In order to help dancers who have completed basic training or who wish to expand their activities as freelancers in the future to become independent, DaBY provides common training throughout the year, participation in productions, and opportunities to consult with mentors to help them get started as dance artists. DaBY provides start-up support for dance artists.

◯Call for DaBY registered dancers for FY2022 and beyond
DaBY registered dancers will be based at Dance Base Yokohama and will continue to be trained by DaBY artists throughout the year, while participating in the creation and research of new works on an ongoing basis.
At this time, DaBY resident artists and others (Ryu Suzuki, Iri Pokorni/Kenta Komori, Saori Hara, etc.) are scheduled to participate in new works.
Among the registered dancers, dancers who are actively involved in the creation and training of DaBY productions will be designated as “DaBY Residence Dancers” and will receive up to 100,000 yen for daily transportation and support for their activities.
◆Wanted Dancers
About 10 DaBY registered dancers (tentative)
*Dancers who are actively involved in DaBY’s productions and training will be designated as “DaBY Resident Dancers” and will receive up to 100,000 yen (including tax) for transportation and activity support if they meet the necessary requirements.
◆Target
Dance artists who have a base of activity in the professional contemporary dance/performing arts field and wish to collaborate with various choreographers and perform on stage.
*Basically, only freelance dance artists are eligible. However, any number of years of freelance activity is acceptable.
For example:
・Seeking opportunities as a freelance dancer or wanting to expand
・Wanting to grow while participating in various choreographers’ works
・Wanting to become an independent dance artist through interaction with DaBY resident artists and guest artists
・Classical ballet/ Those who have long experience in street dance and other forms of dance but would like to participate in contemporary dance/performing arts performances.
・ Those who aspire to create their own works at DaBY
◆Conditions
Resident dancers must share DaBY’s concept of “creating a professional dance environment” and “opening dance to society.”
■Resident dancers only
・Credit in publicity materials as Dance Base Yokohama or DaBY
(Example: Name (DaBY) / Name (DaBY Resident Dancer) ・Participate in at least 80% of the trainings and events held by DaBY Name (DaBY Resident Dancer)
・Participate in at least 80% of the training and events held by DaBY
*Support payment will be made at the end of the fiscal year for those who fulfill the above conditions.
◆Activity period
April 2022 – March 31, 2023
*We will consider continuing beyond the second year upon consultation
◆Benefits
Free of participation and registration fees.
(Some workshops, etc. by resident artists may require paid participation.
・Free participation in training classes, contextual studies, etc. by artists related to DaBY 3~4 times a month (scheduled every Thursday morning to all day).

Participation in creative projects and performances by DaBY-based artists (Ryu Suzuki, Iri Pokorni/Kenta Komori, Saori Hara, etc.)
– Free attendance at projects, tryouts, and performances (or previews) organized by DaBY
– Free use of DaBY’s studio for training and creative activities when space is available, Free use of DaBY studios for training, creative work, study groups, etc.
・Addition of works created at DaBY to the DaBY repertoire, performances and re-staging
