DaBY is pleased to announce the opening of the ProLab for Dancers “Dancer Development Program” as part of its efforts to develop a professional dance environment and foster creators. In the first semester, nine DaBY resident dancers participated in this program, creating works by applying what they learned in workshops and DaBY Contextual Studies (seminars), and presenting the results in November.
In the second half of the program, DaBY Dance Evangelist Kenta Komori will be joined by guest lecturer Iri Pokorni (formerly of NDT and Kidd Pivot) for three weeks of research and tryouts for creation. This program aims to conduct continuous tryouts in the coming year.
The planned visit to Japan for a creation by Iri Pokorni has been rescheduled due to the COVID-19.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the visit to Japan has been canceled and replaced by remote instruction.
Guest instructor Reina Narumi (KiddPivot) will join the class.
Due to the cancellation of Iri Pokorny’s visit to Japan, she will be teaching as a guest instructor.

Nurturing young dancers and improving the skills of dancers with professional stage experience through creation with Ily Pokorny, a former member of the Kidd Pivot dance company led by Crystal Pite and active as a choreographer in dance companies in the U.S. and Europe.

Born 1981 in Prague, Czech Republic. After graduating from the Prague National Conservatoire, she joined the Laterna Magica Dance Company in Prague, transferred to Netherlands Dance Theater 2 (NDT2) in 2003, and was promoted to Netherlands Dance Theater 1 (NDT1) in 2006, where she has danced works by Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad In 2006, he was promoted to Netherlands Dance Theater 1 (NDT1), where he danced works by such renowned choreographers as Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Paul Lightfoot, Sol Leon, and Crystal Pite, and began choreographing at the annual “Switch” choreography workshop, where he created a short piece, Currently, he has been commissioned to choreograph for companies such as Nederland Dance Theater 2, Ballet Theater Basel, Northwest Dance Project, Atel Barrett, Mannheim Opera, Budapest Dance Theater, Prague Chamber Ballet, Corzo Productions, and many more.
In recent years, he has been teaching regularly at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Berg, the Juilliard School in New York, NDT (summer school), and Architants in Tokyo, Japan. He also initiated and supervised the educational program “The Pioneer Project” for young choreographers organized by Corzo Theatre.

She has studied ballet and contemporary dance in France and Canada since the age of 15.
She has performed with the State Theater Wiesbaden in Germany, the Royal Swedish Ballet, and the Netherlands Dance Theater, and has appeared in many works by internationally acclaimed choreographers. She has performed the role of Juliet in Mats Ek’s version of Juliet & Romeo in London, Germany, and at the Palais Garnier of the Paris Opera, and performed a duet at the Nobel Prize Dinner in 2014. She is currently a member of Kidd Pivot, led by world-renowned choreographer Crystal Pite. Her latest work is Revisor, recorded in London in March 2020 and broadcast on the BBC. A world tour is planned.

In 1999, he won the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition. He was the first Japanese male to join the Netherlands Dance Theater I. Since leaving the company, he has made guest appearances with the Royal Swedish Ballet, Noism, Sylvie Guillem’s “6000 Miles Away,” and Kylian Productions, while also focusing on creative activities, including the solo performance “Study for Self/portrait” (Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, 2005). In recent years, in addition to leading Opto with Rei Watanabe and Nagama Yuasa, she has been working as an expression coach for Japanese figure skaters, curator of Dance Lab “Dancer, Dance with Words,” instructor/navigator at Saitama Dance Laboratory (Saitama Arts Theatre, Sainokuni), and Dance Base Yokohama Dance Evangelist at Dance Base Yokohama
