For three weeks in October, Ili Pokorni (ex-NDT/Kidd Pivot) is in residence, working with the DaBY resident dancers on the creation of a new piece, with a tryout at Dance Base Yokohama on the last day of the residency.
In last year’s ” DaBY ProLab for Dancers Dancer Training Program FY2021 [2nd half],” movement research based on Ili Pokorny’s choreographic works and public rehearsals were conducted online due to the difficulty of Ili Pokorny’s visit to Japan due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Rehearsals were held online.
Six resident dancers from the previous program will participate in this new creation.
This work is scheduled to be performed at the theater in the coming year.
◆Concept of the work
A new work that explores the ductility and resilience of the body in space.
The body, as an instrument of perception and action, is constantly improvising in order to repeat creation and survive.
In this film, Ili Pokorni emphasizes themes such as the environment and the human connection to nature, and explores the balance between intelligence, instinct, freedom and responsibility.
These essences of life are constantly in conflict with each other and in dialogue with our bodies and minds. (Ili Pokorny)
