The new work “Dialogue” will be presented by DaBY resident dancers who have been training at the host ProLab “Class” since DaBY’s opening, along with artists with whom Kenta Komori has been collaborating.
This work is a presentation of the results of Kenta Komori and the DaBY resident dancers’ annual activities at DaBY. The process of this creation will utilize “Kinematics (tentative),” a dance notation system using machine learning by programmer Shoya Dozono, and will be exhibited with video on the day of the performance. In addition, a part of the process will be introduced with demonstrations by the artist and dancers in the after-talk after the performance.

◆Concept

On training that dancers repeat as a routine.
Although it is an act to confirm the small daily sensory differences that occur in the body, it is always accompanied by the danger of being manipulated by repetitive movements and losing the senses that are supposed to be there.

In our daily lives, our bodies are growing up, remembering and sometimes forgetting sensations. Is it possible to “record” the sensations we forget and lose in the course of our lives through the physical expression of dance?

This work is an attempt to “record” the individual “memories” of each performer and choreographer through the act of choreography, including the physical dialogue derived from the dialogue between them.
Dance is not something that is born and disappears in an instant, but is considered to be a form of “memory” that is born from numerous dialogues in a condensed period of time.

After winning a professional scholarship at the Prix de Lausanne in 1999, he moved to Europe. After working with the Ballet de Monte Carlo of the Principality of Monaco, he became the first Japanese male dancer to join the Netherlands Dance Theater1. Since leaving the Netherland Dance Theater 1, he has performed in “TOKI” in 2011 and 2013, “Vibration of Light” in 2004, “Study for Self/Portrait” in 2005 and 2008, and other creative works, including “6000 Miles Away” by Sylvie Guillem, Royal Swedish Ballet, Noism, Kirlian Productions, and others. and others. In recent years, he has been leading Opto with Rei Watanabe and Nagama Yuasa. He has choreographed operas and musicals, coached Japanese figure skaters, curated Dance Lab’s “Dancers, Dance with Words,” taught and navigated at Saitama Dance Laboratory, and served as a dance evangelist at Dance Base Yokohama.

After completing graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, he moved to France. Since returning to Japan, he has been conducting fieldwork in various parts of the world from a musical and artistic anthropological perspective, producing sound sources and presenting his works while making field recordings of the primary sources of musical instruments and songs, soundscapes of rituals and rites, and environmental sounds of cities and settlements.

She began studying classical ballet at the age of 3 and participated in a European ballet training program at the age of 14. Later, she was exposed to various genres.
She has performed in numerous dance performances, as well as performances by the Japan Ballet Association, Contemporary Dance Association, and others. She has performed and choreographed in a wide range of productions including Nikikikai Opera, plays, musicals by Johnny’s and others, live performances by Hello! Project live performances and singing shows such as SMAP x SMAP, etc., as well as performing and choreographing in a wide range of settings, including as an assistant.
In 2015, he worked as an assistant choreographer for Kenta Komori in the Toho musical “Elisabeth”. She continues to work with him in other productions as well.
In the 2019 musical “Romeo & Juliet,” he will support all dance scenes under the direction of three choreographers, including Kenta Komori.
Currently performs in dance performances, organizes her own, and creates solo works.
Traveled to Europe alone in 2016 and 2018. Performed in a video production in London.

Kana Ajimu

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, she began classical ballet at the age of six.
After graduating from high school, she studied at the Goh Ballet Academy in Canada for two and a half years.
She is a member of the Goh Ballet Youth Company.
While studying abroad, she studied contemporary dance under Maiko Miyauchi.
After returning to Japan, she joined the Star Dancers Junior Ballet for one year.
From September 2016 to March 2018, she was a member of Dance Company Lasta, led by Yoshimitsu Kushida.
From May 2017 to January 2019, she was a member of the junior company L.A.B., led by Ryu Suzuki.
In 2018 he joined his newly founded Dance Company eltanin as a flagship member.
In January 2018, he formed Murma with Ikumi Otsuka and Ako Yasuoka.
In September of the same year, he passed an audition to join Co. Ruri Mito, a company led by Ruri Mito.

Started street dance and jazz dance at the age of 12.
She first encountered contemporary dance when she studied abroad in LA for a short time at the age of 17, and after returning to Japan, began studying contemporary dance and classical ballet in earnest in Japan.
She is currently searching for her own dance while also working on stage, as a backup dancer, and in clubs.

Shinon Hatanaka

She studied classical ballet from childhood and began contemporary dance at the age of 16. While studying dance creation methods at Ochanomizu University’s Dance Education Course, she has performed in creative dance performances at the university and in works by Kazuyuki Futami, etc. In 2019, her choreography won second place in the 2nd World Dance Competition in Niigata and the Niigata Mayor’s Prize, and she is actively engaged in her own choreographic work.

Actor and dancer.
Born in 1990 in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Graduated from J. F. Oberlin University, majoring in theater.
While attending Oberlin College, he spent most of his time in theater, and upon graduation he began performing in contemporary dance productions, and is currently active as both an actor and dancer.
He also directs, shoots, and edits his own music videos.
As an actor, he has appeared in productions directed by Mari Natsuki, Tomohiko Imai, Shuji Onodera, Kenichi Tani, Tak Tak Taku Yamamoto, and Satoko Ichihara, and as a dancer in choreography by Ryohei Kondo, Uran Hirosaki, Kenta Komori, Wataru Kitao, Ryu Suzuki, and Ella Hochilde.

Born in Okayama, Japan, she started classical ballet at the age of 7 under Noriko Kawawa, and studied ballet at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, the Netherlands from 2004 to 2006. From 2014 to 2016, she was a member of Noism1, Japan’s first public theater dance company based in Ryutopia, Niigata. Currently, she is a member of OrganWorks. Major works: “Hakoni Musume” and “supernova” choreographed by Jo Kanamori (NHK Ballet Feast 2015), etc. OrganWorks “Holy Beast ~Live with a sun~” @ Setagaya Public Theater (2019). OrganWorks x Chiharu Shiota “Kuchinaishi” @ Mori Art Museum Chiharu Shiota “The soul is Furueru” at Mori Art Museum (2019).
