Priyakshi Agarwal (she/her) is a choreographer, dancer, researcher and activist from India. Trained in various physical practices such as Kalaripayat (Indian martial arts) and contemporary dance, she also practices Indian classical dance (Bharatanatyam). In 2020, she was awarded an EU scholarship for a Master's degree in Dance Anthropology (Choreomundus) and is currently working on a Jamaican dance genre called Dancehall," and conducts practice-based research on the dance hall. Her performance is concerned with exploring dance as a tool of resistance under the concept of "performance as protest," and at the core of her practice is an exploration of the female body and the fight against deep-seated issues of patriarchy and caste- and race-based discrimination. Priyakshi has presented her research on dance at conferences and universities abroad, including in Ghana and Turkey. She has also been invited to perform in residencies in countries such as Germany, Norway, and the UK.
