Fusing the Memphis street dance ” Jookin” with ballet, she has collaborated with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma on “The Dying Swan,” appeared in a music video for Janelle Monae’s ” Tightrope,” performed at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, and appeared in commercials for Uniqlo and Apple, among other diverse activities. Dancer “Lil Buck” continues to be active in a wide variety of activities.
In 2011, he became the first Asian to be selected as Beyonce’s exclusive dancer. After sharing numerous world tours with her, she has performed with various artists such as Prince, Kanye West, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, etc., and continues to dance at the forefront of the world.
Two U.S.-based artists will visit Japan in December and hold a special workshop at DaBY!
Each 90-minute class will be followed by a 30-minute talk and Q&A session, during which the dancers will discuss their experiences, careers, and dance styles.

This class is designed for both experienced and inexperienced street dancers to learn Lil Buck’s dance style as “Memphis Jookin 101! As an introductory course, this class is designed to teach the basics and history of his dance style called “Memphis Jookin”.

Ai Shimatsu
Ai Shimatsu began studying ballet at the age of 3, and after training at the Tokyo Ballet School, she moved to New York City by herself at the age of 19.
In 2011, she was selected as one of Beyonce’s auditioners and became the first Asian dancer exclusive to Beyonce on her promotional tour and appeared on many TV shows including ‘MTV Video Music Awards’.
She has since been on numerous world tours, including the ‘Dear Girl Tour’ as one of Pharrell Williams’ dancers ‘The Baes’ in 2014, Madonna’s ‘Rebel Heart Tour’ in 2015, Beyonce’s ‘Formation World Tour’ in 2016, and Beyonce’s ‘Formation World Tour’ in 2017. Formation World Tour’ in 2016, Katy Perry’s ‘Witness: The Tour’ in 2017-2018, and ‘Madame’ from 2019-2020. X Tour’, and will be a stand-in for Madonna on the ‘Madame: The Tour’ from 2019-2020.
She has also performed with Prince, Brandy, Cardi B, Gwen Stefani, Kanye West, Keyshia Cole, Janelle Monáe, Christina Aguilera, and many others, and appeared as a pair dance partner with Daichi Miura in his video for ‘Right Now’. She also appeared in the TV drama series ‘Glee’.
He has also worked as a model for ‘COACH’, ‘rag & bone’, ‘KENZO’, ‘GAP’, ‘Abercrombie & Fitch’, ‘Gabrielle’, ‘Gabrielle’, and ‘Gabrielle’. Charles ‘Lil Buck’ Riley
Born in Chicago in 1988, Charles moved to Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 8 where he discovered Jookin, a street dance that originated in Memphis. She received a scholarship to take lessons with the New Ballet Ensemble, a Memphis ballet company, and on the advice of the artistic director, she combined Jookin and ballet to dance the famous “Dying Swan”.
In 2011, her dance caught the attention of world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and she danced “The Dying Swan” with Yo-Yo Ma’s performance. This was the beginning of a worldwide expansion of his activities. He has appeared in Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson One,” participated in two world tours with Madonna, performed at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, collaborated with Versace and Nike on original sneakers, and appeared in commercials for Uniqlo, GAP, and Apple, among many other diverse activities. In 2021, his documentary film “Lil Buck: From the Streets to the World” was released, and after receiving acclaim at numerous film festivals, it was screened in Japanese cinemas. In recent years, he has also become a social activist.
