This seminar will be held as a part of “Dance Base Yokohama International Dance Project “Wings” for the next generation of creators who want to spread their wings to the world.
We plan to invite various lecturers to hold seminars on an ongoing basis.

This first seminar will focus on the new freelance law (Law Concerning Appropriateness of Transactions Pertaining to Specified Fiduciary Businesses).
The speaker will be Chihiro Tokai, an attorney and legal advisor to Dance Base Yokohama.

The New Freelance Law (Law Concerning Appropriateness of Transactions with Specified Fiduciary Business Operators), which went into effect on November 1, 2024, was enacted to create a safe working environment for dancers, choreographers, and other freelance workers.
We hope that not only dancers, choreographers, and other freelancers involved in dance, but also companies and theaters that contract with freelancers will learn about the new provisions of this law, such as what they should do to conduct appropriate business with freelancers and how to create a safe environment for freelancers to work. We hope that companies, theaters, and other organizations that contract with freelancers will become aware of the new provisions of the Act, including what they must do to conduct appropriate transactions with freelancers and how to create an environment in which freelancers can work with confidence.

◆Instructor Profile
Chihiro Tokai
After graduating from Chuo University Law School in 2009, he passed the bar exam in the same year and registered as a lawyer in December 2010. After working at a law firm, he joined Recruit Co., Ltd. in the legal department, where he was engaged in business-related legal work. He also worked as a legal director of a start-up company in preparation for its IPO.
Currently, he is a member of CoWORK Law Office, providing business and legal support to ballet, dance, and other performing arts companies.
