Emmanuel Yuin Workshop Ensemble / Ensamble
We are pleased to welcome choreographer Emmanuel Yuin as our instructor for the three-day workshop “Ensemble / Ensamble,” which will be held from Tuesday, July 28, to Thursday, July 30, 2026, on the 3rd floor of Dance Base Yokohama.Participants will engage in group creation and share methods for dancing while receiving and responding to each other’s movements and the flow of information.
◆Outline
During this three-day workshop, we will engage in group creative projects.
I will share the approach used in my work *Cribles*—where dancers hold hands, receive each other’s movements and the flow of information, and dance in response—as well as Lisa Nelson’s tools for improvisation.
Through these practices, I would like to focus on how a group can generate “images,” create “landscapes,” and construct “architectural spaces.” I look forward to meeting all of you.
Emmanuel Yuin

Re Shikichi / shikichi re* (Facilitator)Choreographer and dancer. She presents performances and exhibitions in both contemporary dance and contemporary art, staging them in theaters, art museums, galleries, and other public spaces and outdoor venues. Her work begins by questioning the human body itself—which we tend to take for granted—and challenging the taken-for-granted concept of bodily ownership.By exploring the anonymization of the body and movements imbued with a strange, sensual tension, and by blurring and remixing all methods of distinguishing one’s own body from others’, she presents a new perspective on the body. She holds degrees from the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts and P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studio) in Brussels, Belgium.Major awards include the French Embassy Prize for Young Choreographers at the Yokohama Dance Collection Competition and the Forbus Japan U30 Award. |
