TRIAD DANCE PROJECT
“Genealogy of Dance” GENEALOGY OF DANCE
TRIAD DANCE PROJECT “Genealogy of Dance” is a dance project that focuses on the history of Western dance and the careers of dancers through three internationally active dance artists from Kanagawa Prefecture, Yoko Ando, Hana Sakai, and Benefit Nakamura, organized to celebrate the opening of the dance house Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY/DABY). This dance project focuses on the history of Western dance and the careers of dancers.
After “TRIAD INTERMISSION,” which will be the first residency at DaBY starting in March 2020 and open to the public the creative process, which was prolonged due to the postponement of the Corona Disaster performance, and the Yokohama tryout, all six works will be performed simultaneously at the Aichi Arts Center, which is also a co-production, from October 1 to 3, 2020.

◆The Inheritance of Dance Academics and Proposals for the Future
Fokin, Killian, Forsythe and Toshiki Okada
TRIAD DANCE PROJECT “Genealogy of Dance” will examine the “choreography” of dance through three internationally acclaimed dancers from Kanagawa Prefecture.
Marius Petipa, who is said to have perfected ballet; Mikhail Fokin, who further updated classical ballet; Ily Kylian, who fused ballet and modern dance into a firm position; William Forsythe, who deconstructed ballet; great choreographers who were always innovators.
These three dancers, who are the legitimate inheritors of the philosophy of the master choreographers who have renewed the history of ballet, and have sometimes inspired the choreographers, will perform the original works that are the starting point of their work and work on their inheritance/reconstruction today in this new performance.
