For three weeks in October, Ili Pokorni (formerly of NDT and Kidd Pivot) will be in residence, creating new works with DaBY resident dancers and holding tryouts at Dance Base Yokohama on the last day of the residency.
In last year’s ” DaBY ProLab for Dancers Dancer Development Program FY2021 [2nd half],” movement research based on Ili Pokornyi’s choreographic works and public rehearsals were conducted online due to the difficulty of his visit to Japan due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Rehearsals were held online.
Six resident dancers from the previous program will participate in this new creation.
This work is scheduled to be performed in the theater in the coming year.
◆Concept of the work
A new work that explores the malleability and resilience of the body in space.
The body, as an instrument of perception and action, is constantly improvising in order to repeat creation and survive.
In this work, Ili Pokorni focuses on themes such as the environment and the connection between nature and humans, and explores the balance between intelligence, instinct, freedom, and responsibility.
These essences of life are in constant conflict and dialogue with our bodies and minds. (Ili Pokorny)
