Motoi Takahashi〈MWMW〉Workshop for new creations “Deepening workshop beyond genres
MWMW, a dance company led by Moto Takahashi who pursues expression beyond the boundaries of genres based on classical ballet and street dance, will hold a workshop for new works.This workshop aims to discover and meet new talents who will share in the creation of the next year’s work and beyond, and will provide a wide range of training from basic dance techniques to the improvement of expressive power and synchronization with music. In the first session, in addition to basic training, some choreography for a new piece to be performed in December will also be shared.
Motoi Takahashi has been creating new works with artists and performers from different backgrounds. Through this workshop, we hope that you will be able to maximize your potential and meet others with whom you can move forward to the next stage of your career.

We will begin with rhythm training, which is the foundation of the piece and choreography. We will carefully move our bodies to the music, feeling our center of gravity and conscious sound. Next, we will perform isolation training, consciously moving each part of the body to expand the range of motion. In addition, we will lecture two types of choreography specialized for street dance and classical ballet from the new work “已己巳己/Mushrooming” to be released next month. Let’s explore new ways of expression while dancing together.◆ Subjects

Moto Takahashi
Born in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. She began classical ballet at an early age and has been a member of Tokyo ELECTROCK STAIRS since 2011, and in 2013 began full-fledged creative activities, with solo works invited to numerous overseas festivals including Rencontres Choregraphiques Internationales de Seine- Saint-Denis and Festival Fabbrica Europa. In 2013, he has been invited to perform his solo works at festivals abroad such as Rencontres Choregraphiques Internationales de Seine- Saint- Denis, Festival Fabbrica Europa, and many others. In 2017, he founded the dance company MWMW (Mowi Mowi). With a motto of “alternative dance” that condenses the expressions and techniques he has cultivated over the years, he not only choreographs but also works on video, music, and visual design, creating a unique world view. He won both the Jury Prize and the Kinosaki International Art Center Prize at the Yokohama Dance Collection 2021. With the dance group MWno’s, they won the Grand Prix at the Kanagawa Short Theater Awards 2022.
