Since its opening in June 2020, DaBY has regularly held the talk event OpenLab “Dancers, Dance with Words” in which dancers introduce their own experiences and creative activities through talks and demonstrations. Hosted by DaBY dance evangelist Kenta Komori, this program aims to broaden interest and understanding of dance activities among a wider audience by drawing out the source of physical expression within leading dance artists.
The sixth guest is dancer Reina Narumi. She will talk about her experience of working with various choreographers in overseas companies such as the Royal Swedish Ballet and Nederland Dance Theater (NDT), as well as her encounter with choreographer Crystal Pite, the leader of her current company Kidd Pivot, and the characteristics of the creative process and the interest of her works. She will talk about her experience of working with Pite, as well as the characteristics of her creative process and the fun of her works. In addition, Narumi and Komori will give a 10-minute demonstration at the beginning of the session.

She has studied ballet and contemporary dance in France and Canada since the age of 15.
She has performed with the State Theater Wiesbaden in Germany, the Royal Swedish Ballet, and the Netherlands Dance Theater, and has appeared in many works by internationally acclaimed choreographers. She has performed the role of Juliet in Mats Ek’s version of Juliet & Romeo in London, Germany, and at the Palais Garnier of the Paris Opera, and performed a duet at the Nobel Prize Dinner in 2014. She is currently a member of Kidd Pivot, led by world-renowned choreographer Crystal Pite. Her latest work is Revisor, recorded in London in March 2020 and broadcast on the BBC. A world tour is planned.
