Training class for professional dancers based in Japan. In “Master Class” vol. 1, under the theme of “Approach to Improvisation,” Yoko Ando will be the guest instructor, and participants will learn about “Forsythe Technique and its diversity. The purpose of this session is to reexamine the originality of one’s own movement and imagination based on the experience each has cultivated, and to find interest in the improvisational body without narrowing one’s vision by sharing it with others.

Yoko Ando

Born in Yokohama, studied under Kuniko Kisanuki. In 2001, she became the first Asian to join the Ballett Frankfurt.
After the dissolution of the Frankfurt Ballet in 2004, she continued to be a member of The Forsythe Company for 15 years until the company’s dissolution in 2003, dancing on stages all over the world as a core dancer and appearing in 40 Forsythe works. Since 2001, she has been actively engaged in other activities such as presenting dance works written, directed, and performed by herself, collaborating with musicians and contemporary artists in Japan and abroad, and creating and teaching dance through the use of media technology. Currently based in Yokohama and New York.

August 10 (Monday) to 14 (Friday), each day the following 3 classes will be held
