From late September to mid-October 2020, DaBY Choreographer in Residence Shintaro Hirahara began his creative process. He is working on his second creation of a new work, “Enenen,” following this past June.
Shintaro Hirahara’s new work “En-En” Open Brainstorm vol.2″ will be held prior to the premiere on October 12 (Mon.) and 13 (Tue.). The performers of the new work and guest Kenta Komori, a DaBY dance evangelist, will participate in this one-hour open brainstorming session, in which they will delve deeply into the work with videos of the creative process to date.

Resident choreographer Shintaro Hirahara, who will be creating works during his first residency at DaBY, will present the creations he created during his 10-day stay at DaBY, and will also have an open brainstorming session with the guests.
The two guests will be invited to participate in open brainstorming sessions as well as tryouts (performances).
This project will be streamed live on the DaBY channel.

Artist Profile
Shintaro Hirahara (DaBY Choreographer in Residence, OrganWorks)

Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1981.
After a career in classical ballet and HipHop, she became an expert in contemporary dance, working as a dancer, choreographer, stage composer, and dance instructor.
He also runs a dance company [OrganWorks] and engages in creative activities.
In Japan, he has choreographed for the Ikiume Theater Company, Kentaro Kobayashi, Kensaku Kobayashi, Akira Shirai, Keishi Nagatsuka, Ken Kamikita, and others, and as a dancer, he has collaborated with artists in other fields, including Shintaro Oue, Mirai Moriyama, and others, and with the Condors, the artist Chiharu Shiota, and Midori Harima. In addition, he has collaborated with artists in China, Korea, Spain, and Scotland, and has choreographed for them.
Selected in the Performing Arts category for the “BRUTUS” magazine’s special feature “Tsugi no Hito. ~ The people who will change tomorrow” in the Performing Arts category.
In 2013, he was dispatched by the Agency for Cultural Affairs to study abroad as an up-and-coming artist for 9 months in Spain.
In 2015, he received the Otaru City Cultural Encouragement Award.
She won both the Next Generation Choreographer Award and the Audience Award at the 2016 Toyota Choreography Awards.
In 2017, he received the Japan Dance Forum and Dance Forum Award.
