11:00-13:00 ProLab Class|Yoh Nakamura (workshop for dancers in residence)
Dance Base Yokohama offers a weekly class/lecture program for DaBY resident dancers. This year’s class will be led by DaBY resident artist Nakamura Yo, who did a residency in the first half of the year as MOSA/Lunar Landing.
A series of choices make every moment a dance.
When we “stop suddenly,” it can be a powerful “dance” that sticks in our mind. I am impressed by the presence of the mind or body that chooses to stop. The word “contemporary” translates to “contemporaneousness. Dance that is born from living in the present moment, dance that can be shared with you because you happen to be living with it, that is contemporary dance. What kind of expression will you choose now? Is this also a dance? I want to share with you hints that lead to such discoveries.” Let’s question what we think of as “dance,” make what we think of as “not dance” dance, and embark on a rich voyage through dance!
