Schedule] December 13 (Sun.)
Venue] Dance Base Yokohama

The “Work in Progress: Watching Dance with Sound” is a project to share various perspectives on dance by having visually impaired and sighted people watch dance together using texts inspired by “audio guides” that use sound to assist visually impaired people with visual information. The project was implemented with KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre for three years from 2017 to 2007. As a development of this project, we will welcome Masako Yasumoto as a new dancer and hold a preview performance and talk about her new work, which will be presented at Kinosaki International Art Center in March 2022.
In the development version, artist Yumitsu Araki will join the artist for sound and writer Junko Gosho for text, approaching dance from the perspectives of both sound and words. This work questions the various ways of texture, presence, and touch. The program will attempt to see how the image of the work can be formed from multiple perspectives by bringing together the perspectives of those who can see and those who cannot see. In the talk after the performance, visitors will have time to share their impressions and impressions of how they saw the work.
