Dance Base Yokohama is a dance house that plans and operates projects aimed at creating a professional dance environment and supporting creators.
For the development of dance as a composite art form, Dance Base Yokohama aims to be a center of exchange not only for choreographers and dancers, but also for musicians, artists, visual artists, lighting designers, sound designers, producers, production staff, critics, researchers, and audience members. Dance Base Yokohama has been nicknamed “DaBY” in the hope that it will become a magnetic field or platform where many people involved in dance can gather without barriers. While being a residence space for creation, Dance Base Yokohama also interacts with local artists and citizens, and conducts workshops, experimental tryout performances, dance archive projects, and a variety of other endeavors.
