Hanako Hayakawa is a dancer and dance maker based in Berlin. She is a graduate of P.A.R.T.S. (3-year contemporary dance education program) in Brussels. She has worked with a variety of artists internationally in Europe and Asia, including Tino Sehgal, Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe, Miet Warlop, Emmilou Rößling, Simon Van Schuylenbergh, Tetsuya Umeda, Reiko Ikemura, and Chimichi Komatsu. She has been involved in various ways in the works of internationally acclaimed artists in Europe and Asia. Based on her experiences as a dancer, performer, and interpreter, the central theme of her work is the concept of the "body as medium" (i.e., body seen/body seen). From there, he attempts to bring to light perspectives and relational dynamics latent in social power structures. Major works include the solo dance piece "Lurker" ("Bliss" at Desingel international Art center [Antwerp], October 2024, "Tanztage" at Sophiensaele [Berlin], January 2025), "Dragging" (co-created with Shiki Geography), and "Open" ("Open", October 2025).
