How do you choreograph? Workshop
This is a comprehensive workshop for creators using the expressive method of “choreography. One of the skills necessary for a choreographer is to enrich the body language. Unlike the mainstream choreographic technique in dance, in which one pushes one’s own body to the limit and offers polished physical expression to others, this workshop will help participants think about how they can transform their own material assets into unique physical expression. This is a workshop to think about this together. Koichiro Tamura, a choreographer active in Japan and abroad, will assist you in your creation. The workshop does not end at the end of the workshop, but rather, he will give you advice on how to realize the limitless image you have created on stage in the near future.

◆Lecturer Profile
Koichiro Tamura
Studied performing arts and body expression at Kyoto University of Art and Design.
Based in Yokohama, Japan.
He produces and performs a wide variety of "minimal hardcore" stage works based on his own choreographic theory. Influenced by contemporary art, he pursues the possibility of dialogue with materials by combining "object" and "body" from a spatial artistic perspective.
His representative works include "F/BRIDGE," in which he physically handled concrete blocks to attack Japan's labor society. STUMP PUMP," in which 100 pieces of cardboard are used to recreate a fallen tree in order to advocate the recovery of a disaster-stricken area (Kurama). His experience in welfare and childcare has led to a wide range of activities, including outreach activities.
He is a Saison Fellow I for FY2020 - FY2023, and was awarded the Best New Artist Prize at the Yokohama Dance Collection, the French Embassy Prize in Japan, and the Sibiu International Theater Festival Prize, among many other prizes. He is a DaBY Residence Artist in 2023.
