Born in Tokyo in 1956, he made his stage debut in 1971 and was introduced to Sokichi Mochizuki in 1972. In 1972, he was introduced to Sakichi Mochizuki, and was trained by Hatsuko Mochizuki. Graduated from the Department of Traditional Japanese Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. Currently a part-time lecturer at the same university. He is a member of the Nagauta Association's Promotion and Training Committee.
